I came into the engineering environment again in 2003. Before that I did Chalet Hosting in Val d'Isere in France. It was my 3rd winter season working around the ski industry, the first was Val, the seccond in Newzealand and then I returned to Val again. The chalet I worked in was the Farmhouse in the center of Valdisere. Basically I chalet hosted for VIP, where the duties involved cooking and cleaning for the guests and that was about it. The life was great otherwise I wouldn't have done it for the third thime!

Val d'Isere has a reputation for having the best/most accessible off piste skiing in the world. Because of that, loads of people do it and you have to be quick or walk far these days to find patches for yourself.. Unfortunately there are a lot of accidents and avalanches cause deaths every year.

For more information on what winter work can be like, click "Winter Work" and to see more galaries of winter antics click "Ski&Board".

These days I do some system integration design work integrating radio, LAN, NDB, Fibre Ring, PABX and other systems together. Very interesting, especially when you get sent off to all sorts of less well travelled areas of the world to set the kit up!
